It takes a village of enthusiastic and dedicated individuals of various expertise to empower the business women dedicated to bringing peace and a vital economy to their war-torn and emerging communities such as Kabul, Afghanistan and Kigali, Rwanda. The PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® village is a fun community to be working in – full of smiles, laughter and a burning desire for knowledge and experience – where friendships are forged and a new global community is formed.
PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® Leadership Program Volunteers often say they learn more than the Afghan and Rwandan business women they are working with. Whether you’re a mentor, a volunteer at the registration desk during Leadership Development, or a social fundraiser, each role is as important as the next.

IEEW Internship Opportunity
Title: Intern - Grant Research and Writer
Date(s): Fall 2020/Spring 2021 Term
Time Commitment: 11 hours per week
Supervisor: Karel Ford, Director of Operations
Summary: IEEW’s PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® program empowers women business owners from Rwanda and Afghanistan. There are three parts to the program; in-country training, leadership development and paying it forward. It is essential that our staff have great people skills. They will be interacting with international women, our sponsors & donors, academic leaders, Ambassadors, as well as service staff. Flexibility and organizational skills are essential.
Intern Duties and Responsibilities: The Grant Research and Writing Intern will be immersed in our grant research and grant writing work. The individual will provide essential research for the development of our grant application strategy and will draft and produce grant proposals.
Primary duties and responsibilities are:
- Researching available and applicable grants.
- Data entry and time-lining for grant proposals.
- Research, retrieval, and assembly of background material for grant proposals.
- Drafting of letters of inquiry and full grant proposals for submission.
Qualifications:
- Goal driven Undergraduate or Graduate student preferably with non-profit or other volunteer experience, or a desire to gain such experience.
- Strong time-management, organizational, and internet research skills a must.
- Ability to self-motivate, stay on task, and work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Ability to learn new technology platforms.
- Ability to handle difficult situations in a positive and professional manner.

Title: Intern – Creative Writer

Intern Duties and Responsibilities: The Writing Intern will be responsible for assisting the Director of Operations with creating written content for a variety of ecommerce websites and blogs as well as have opportunities to learn about complementary online marketing disciplines.
Other duties and responsibilities are:
- Write website and blog content
- Learn to utilize Google Analytics
- Learn about executing and monitoring Search Engine Optimization (SEO) campaigns
- Build and maintain SEO, social media, and content strategy knowledge through constant team and self-directed learning
- Analyze SEO and social media performance, extract data and generate client reports
- Creating bios for incoming students and creating compelling stories about them
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An understanding of general SEO concepts
- A go-getter attitude
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Passionate about writing and content creation
- A sense of humor
- Ability to quickly learn new technology platforms
- Creative (and we like our folks a little bit quirky!)
