She reports:
I would like to share some news with you. For the first news, after my return from the US, I thought of making cushion covers but It took me some time to prepare the designs for it. The first cushion covers were released in mid-October last year. Since that time, the cushion covers were selling better than t-shirts. This year the demand for a variety of sizes is there.
As well as adding sizes, I have a lot to improve on the uniqueness, color and quality of the cushion covers. In order to make all the sizes for a big quantity, I will have to get a very good sewing machine and a specialized tailor. In the meantime I am working with some individual tailors.
The second news that I’d like to report is that I and some partners opened a shop within the city of Kigali in mid February. We spent all the month of February setting up things till the beginning of March.
I have two female partners and a male partner, they are in the handcrafts sector. Our shop’s name is AFRICAN GIFT CORNER, and I was appointed to manage the shop.
This month of April, I am hoping to start making table cloths which should match with the cushion covers. Since the beginning of this year, the sales have been decreasing and our production has been affected by this decrease but I hope things will get much well.
I would say, what we have learned from the training, it’s really helping. I have been working on the networking part and on the products expansion part which is not always an easy part. I will stay in touch.
