PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS
Alumnae Association

Charter

Mission Statement

The PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS Alumnae Association is dedicated to empowering women economically, socially and politically through the network of students who have graduated from the PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS program. The association also serves as a vehicle for alumnae to fulfill their commitment of paying forward the knowledge they have received from PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS.

Members

Any student who has graduated from the In-Country Education and/or Leadership Development components of PEACE THROUBH BUSINESS is eligible to be a member of the Association.

Association Facilitators

To help contribute to the success of the Association and its chapters, the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women will select through an application process an Association Facilitator. The facilitator is not responsible for the duties of the Board of Directors, but instead will act as liaison between the Association and the Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women. The Association Facilitator is a paid position, and also serves as the In-Country Education Facilitator. Please refer to Facilitator Job Description for more details on this role.

Officers & Committees

Each chapter shall have a Board of Directors, which will be an elected group of officials, voted on by the chapter members. Each chapter shall have a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. (See position descriptions) Other specific offices within the Board of Directors are to be decided on and voted in by chapter members. Committees are to be voted on and installed by members.

Meetings

Each chapter shall hold, preferably monthly but at a minimum, quarterly meetings to discuss action steps, events, fundraising ideas, social activities, community involvement and mentorship opportunities.

Events

Events are an important element of the Association because they help keep members connected, build social and networking opportunities, help the community and so much more. Because events are so important to the life of the Association, each chapter is asked to hold at a minimum two major events each year. Examples of events include fundraisers, community service, conferences, local speakers and more.

Finances

Money raised by the chapters shall be recorded and used in appropriate ways, according to the Charter mission, to help sustain and grow the Association and its chapters. Fundraising efforts are encouraged to support the local chapters, contribute to fellow businesswomen and the community and provide for scholarship opportunities for students selected for PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS Leadership Development. Local and international dues may be incorporated after chapters have been established for a total of one year.

Election Process

The PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS Alumnae Association shall hold an open election where members may nominate themselves or be nominated by others for office. Officers are elected for a period of one year and are eligible to hold the same office a consecutive year upon re-election. Officers who have served two consecutive terms cannot run for that same office for a period of twelve months.

The election shall be at the first formal meeting of the year and results sent to the Institute within one week.
