Sponsorship Opportunities

The Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women is a non profit public charity dedicated to the economic empowerment of women. The Institute focuses on educating, mentoring and coaching women, in the United States and abroad, who are seeking to acquire entrepreneurial skills to help start and grow a business. IEEW works collaboratively with educational institutions as well as government and private industry to execute our mission.

In partnership with the U.S. State Department, USAID, and our sponsoring universities, IEEW is bringing women entrepreneurs from developing countries to the United States to engage in a high level 4 week business basics curriculum and mentoring program. The business basics curriculum will include principles of business management, fundamentals of human resource development, ethical issues in operating an enterprise, financing strategies, and the use of technology to enhance education and long-distance learning. There will also be a mentoring component which will allow women business owners in the United States to share knowledge with women from around the world; and women in the United States to learn from them.

Any contribution is welcome and we maximize every dollar donated. There are many ways to make a difference. For example:

$125.00 – we can provide a sewing machine on which women will be trained in a vocation that will put food on her family table. See Emertha’s biography on our website. That is only $25 each from you and 4 friends! Donate today!

$250.00 – we can provide a stipend for a rural woman to travel to Kigali, Rwanda or Kabul, Afghanistan and attend business training. Once in these primary cities, our student may have other opportunities to obtain employment or other training. Without the stipend, she cannot leave her family, abandon her current livelihood and travel for an extended time. Donate today!

Peace through Business® 2009 is bringing 30 women from Afghanistan and Rwanda to the US for Leadership training. Their airfare is approximately $2500.00 each. Can you sponsor one women’s travel? Donate today!

The participants will be here for approx. 3 weeks. We help the women with day-to-day expenses while in the US, which can be around $50 a week. Can you donate the cost for those expenses for one or more of our participants? Donate today!

Join us in our activities to provide business training in-country, bring some of the student participants to the US to further develop their leadership, provide mentoring on a continuing basis and help them contribute to their countries’ economic goals.
