PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® Reception on June 5 at New York Athletic Club a Big Success
IEEW would like to thank all those who participated in our special reception for the PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® event at the New York Athletic Club in downtown Manhattan June 5. We surpassed our goal for turnout and were able to set the stage to launch our New York Advisory Council.
The event, held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., offered attendees more information about how PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® is transforming the lives of women in Afghanistan and Rwanda. Participants learned about the three major areas of the program: in-country education, leadership development and train the trainer. When combined, these components create a continuing program to educate women, and promote their business and leadership skills. The program builds a strong public policy agenda in the women’s business community and helps build stable democracies.
Joining IEEW’s Founder/CEO Dr. Terry Neese at the event was Francine McMahon, publisher and executive vice president of The Hill. The Hill is a National Presidential Level sponsor of IEEW. Organizers of the event were; IEEW Board Members Susan Solovic, New York Times bestselling author and small business expert, and Valerie Shondel, The Business Strategist; Advisory Committee Members Sallie Mullins Thompson, CPA/PFS, CFP Principal, SMT CPA PLLC and Susan Bari, Licensed Real Estate Salesperson, Douglas Elliman.
The outreach efforts of these and other IEEW members at the event have encouraged increased interest in assisting with future PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS® activities in the New York City area. We look forward to establishing the IEEW New York Advisory Council in the near future.
