Dr. Martin Walsh is a corporate psychologist who applies the principles of psychology to the problems of small company management. Walsh guides businesses as they deal with the changes needed as they become larger and more complex. Founded in 1982, the National Business Association (NBA), is a nonprofit organization for the self-employed, small-business owners, entrepreneurs and professionals. The NBA continuously strives to provide its members with vital support programs, cost and time saving products and services in the areas of business, lifestyles, and education and health.
Mr. Smalling’s crisis management experience began as a Missionary Kid in Central and Southern Africa, and developed professionally during the Balkan conflicts and in the US corporate boardroom. His work has extended from operational field work to strategic planning, training, and implementation within international and local defense, corporate, and NGO operations. More recently pertaining to this panel, he has represented Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma in USIP mediations workshops applying Native American tribal mediation methods to on-going Iraqi and Afghani case studies.
Carla Burns is Lead Training Manager/Instructor at ATT University. She began her career in 1980 with Southwestern Bell Telephone (SWBT) as an Account Executive positioning SWBT’s products and services to solve business problems for clients in the finance industry. Carla trained emergency dispatchers on SWBT’s Enhanced 9-1-1 systems throughout the Southwest, requiring technical knowledge and course design. She is certified to train 13 leadership vendor courses, and is master-certified to train trainers in Powertalk and Instructor Competencies. Carla joined the Management Development group in 2006, and has been delivering the leadership curriculum since that time.
Dr. Tara Peters has been an educator for 23 years, including faculty and administrative roles. She currently serves as faculty in the DeVos Graduate School and Academic Dean for Texas Operations . Dr. Peters has taught on multiple occasions in Northwood University’s international programs in Montreux, Switzerland. She has also served on accreditation site teams and has been a Senior Examiner as a member of the Quality Texas Foundation Board of Examiners. She consults and her scholarly work has been presented at regional and national conferences and published in a peer-reviewed journal. She is co-author of the transformational book, “Intentional Living: Choosing to Win Despite Life’s Challenges,” which is scheduled for release in April 2018.
Denise Evans is Vice President, Global Women B2B Marketing for the IBM Corporation. She leads an organization responsible for ensuring that women owned, led and influenced businesses, globally – understand how to leverage technology to accelerate the growth and success of their business. Denise previously served globally in numerous leadership and executive positions in IBM for 39+ years. . In 2015 she was awarded the “World of Difference” Award from The International Alliance of Women. Denise is a global citizen who has traveled across 5 continents, a mentor to many in marketing and sales and a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of the Nations’ Capital.
