NAME: Ariane Karegire

COUNTRY: Rwanda

BUSINESS: EVENT.ORG (event planning)

Ariane, 30 years old, owns EVENT.ORG, which specializes in event management, specifically wedding planning.

She started her business when she realized that she wanted to have more freedom in what she did professionally, and she wanted to do something she was passionate about. Ariane noticed that wedding-planning was often a business-profession in other countries, and after some research, Ariane decided to join the trade. Ariane has owned her business for three years, and she has four employees.

Eventually, she would like her business to become a “one-stop shop,” for her customers, providing all necessary services without using outside vendors. She also wants to create a wedding magazine and host an annual wedding exhibition.

By attending PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS, Ariane hopes to learn more about daily management, accounting, and how to recover more client payments.

  2. MARION MARSHALL Says:

    Ariane,

I am sooo happy to hear from you. I am in the middle of production for 4 weddings and one special event we have starting Saturday. I will speak on this briefly and more detail later. I started out as a retail floral business. I did not like retail, however, the wedding and special event side grew and I closed the retail operation and concentrated on weddings and special events.

    Payment
I require a $500 deposit to secure a date and that goes towards the total.
Clients must pay in full 14 days before the date of the event. I usually order flowers about 10 to 15 days out. So if a client has not paid, I do not order flowers or continue any planning service. Within 14 days a client must pay in cash. You also offer the client of monthly installments or whatever you feel comfortable with and that can be possibly helpful to you, however, you must manage the payments carefully so you can make any purchases you need.

Here is my email address. I would like to send you more photos and other reference information. I hope this helps. I’ll send photos of this weekends weddings next week.
    [email protected]

Sooo… just send your list of questions and I would be happy to answer them.

    Creatively yours,

    Marion
